Chapter 3

I returned home from my doctors office and settled in at the computer to check the status of my industrial incubator project, the Pleasant Valley Watershed project, and how the construction was faring on the new Pleasant Valley High school. These three projects combined will be the pinnacle of my administrations achievement, when they are complete.

The high school is nearing completion, hopefully in time for the fall term. All that needs done now is the installation of the special order windows that should be in sometime next week. The structures modern architectural style already dominates the skyline. You can see it from almost anywhere in town save for the new beaches created by the watershed project.

This building should serve to educate the entire valley's young folk for many generations preparing them in mind, through its advanced learning facilities, and included, at my insistence, the fully fledged art and music department. The body is also not neglected with the schools state of the art weight training, and dance programs. I will not even mention its basketball field house, and soccer stadium. Luxuries to be certain, but they will bring many hours of enjoyment to the students and parents alike. My only regret is with Angela and Lilith in college now, they missed out on my shining jewel.

With the school as phase one of our grand plan to stimulate growth and economic development being nearly complete, I turned my attention to phase two. Intended to open up new waterfront property for home and business development alike, the multimillion dollar watershed project was well on its way to completion as well. The canal had been completed, and the dikes holding back the water while this work was performed had been successfully detonated as part of the founders day celebration. My status report indicated that strategic lots had already been surveyed and laid out for development. Hopefully we would soon see waterfront condominiums sprouting on our new found beaches.

Lastly I turned to the incubator. This project has required more time away from home than the others. I have been personally involved in more boardroom dealing, and behind the scenes schmoozing with the movers and shakers of many top nationwide chains, attempting to convince them to locate in the valley in general, and Pleasantview in particular than anyone else.

My first success in this field is scheduled to open its doors soon, the Valley's first Bowling alley. While I am not overly fond of the color scheme the chain employs, we are still in negotiations with them to get this changed. Once the franchise is fully established in any event, I expect that will be easy to change via a zoning ordinance.

I did not like the look of some of the last few details in the report, so grabbing hold of my pendulous belly, I lumbered to the car and drove over for some "hands on" management work. I no sooner walked up to the entrance when the workers all snapped to their jobs and soon had the final touches ready for the grand opening.

It was difficult to walk around, well lumber around anyway, and keep a stern look on my face as what I was certain would prove to be the first of many profitable new venues opened up in my fair town. Though considering the expansion of the Valley megaplex as a whole, I don't suppose we really fit the definition of "town" any longer. With the new Nuclear plant in Pleasant Valley North, the rest of the valley never need worry about abundant power again. Which reminds, me, I need to get over there and check out the new Atomic Nights Bistro that opened up across the street from the plant, Daniel has been raving about the food and service.

Ah Daniel. To think that a few short months ago I was contemplating leaving him. I am not certain what has caused the change, or whether it is him or I that have changed. It could be the baby, and the hormonal changes it has wrought on me. Or it could simply be that when I embraced confidence, and self determination, bidding farewell to Minnie Mouse, my libido decided to shift into over drive as well. For too many years, sex was a duty, nothing more. I suspect having twins at a young age might have helped that attitude along. Now, as I approach the age when I should be slowing down, I find myself more often likely to initiate intimacy as not.

Strangely, as if he heard my thoughts, I had no sooner bid the last worker goodnight and was readying for the journey home then who should appear at the door knocking to be let in. I took him on the nickel tour and as we finished, he chuckled. When I asked him what he was laughing about he asked if I remembered going to Sim City with him as a teen ostensibly to go bowling and what we had done. Now what is an expectant mother to do in this type of predicament, why pretend embarrassment of course.

It didn't work of course. Before too long, without much actual resistance on my part, in fact maybe a nudge or two forward on my part, I soon found myself and my preponderant bulk seated naked on my husbands lap as the dawn broke. It's good to be the mayor...

I really can not say no to the man, but by the same token, I was surprised to learn this inability is shared. He has absolutely no strength to say no to me. I need to explore ways to use this new found power I have over him. When I asked him to show me how to score a strike on the brand new lanes, he went out of his way to show me just how adept he was on the hardwood.
